Ringlink Webring System Template version 1.7
Last updated on Friday, July 7th 2006 at 12:00 pm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1)
a) You need to replace all instances of ~YOUR WEBRING SYSTEM'S NAME~ with the name of your Webring System. There are a few other YOU/YOUR variables that need to be changed, these can be found when proof reading through the site (you may also wish to re-write some sections, so as to have them better fit within the theme of your system's website).
b) You need to replace all instances of http://www.THIS-SYSTEM.com/ with your system's domain url address.
Note: If you have a website or text editor, this can be quickly accomplished by using the 'Extended Replace' function.
2)
You need to replace the Ringlink logo on the index page with the Logo or Name of your webring system.
3)
a) You need to edit this part of the formmail.php file located in the 'testing' folder using any text editor:
~~~~~near the top of the file~~~~~~
define('FROM', 'YOUR WEBRING SYSTEM <YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS@YOUR_DOMAIN.COM>');
$referers = array('www.YOUR-DOMAIN.COM', 'YOUR-DOMAIN.COM', 'www.YOUR-MAIL-DOMAIN.COM', 'YOUR-MAIL-DOMAIN.COM', 'www.YOUR-MAIL-DOMAIN-2.COM', 'YOUR-MAIL-DOMAIN-2.COM');
$recipient_array = array('zfcf7b465cc30923b02a8cecc2ede239331c7990ez' => 'YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS@YOUR_DOMAIN.COM', 'z2bd7df9fbc9f87040e617b5c09ad16aa85d73eccz' => 'YOUR_2nd_EMAIL_ADDRESS@YOUR_DOMAIN.COM');
~~~~~~~~~~~
Enter your site and email/s domain addresses and other stuff in UPPER CASE (email domain only if different from the site).
Example for the World of Webrings:
~~~~~~~~~~~
define('FROM', 'WOW Webring System <pete@webring.cc>');
$referers = array('www.webring.cc', 'webring.cc', '64.124.102.50', '208.184.5.198', 'jowlflapper.com', 'www.jowlflapper.com', 'gunnar.cc', 'openhosting.com', 'xplornet.com');
$recipient_array = array('zfcf7b465cc30923by02a8cecc2ede239331c7990ez' => 'pete@webring.cc', 'z2bd7df9fbc9f87040e617ob5c09ad16aa85d73eccz' => 'jowlflapper@xplornet.com');
~~~~~~~~~~~
Note: Sometimes you need to also enter your web host's domain and nameservers IP addresses (try without first).
b) If you wish to use only 1 e-mail address, you will have to edit the contact.html page here:
~~~~~~~~~~~
<input type="hidden" name="recipient" value="zfcf7b465cc30923b02a8cecc2ede239331c7990ez" />
<input type="hidden" name="recipient_cc" value="z2bd7df9fbc9f87040e617b5c09ad16aa85d73eccz" />
~~~~~~~~~~~
This sends the form to 2 of your email addresses. If you only want to send to 1 email address, then remove this line:
~~~~~~~~~~~
<input type="hidden" name="recipient_cc" value="z2bd7df9fbc9f87040e617b5c09ad16aa85d73eccz" />
~~~~~~~~~~~
Also remove this from the formmail.php file:
~~~~~~~~~~~
, 'z2bd7df9fbc9f87040e617b5c09ad16aa85d73eccz' => 'YOUR_2nd_EMAIL_ADDRESS@YOUR_DOMAIN.COM'
~~~~~~~~~~~
4)
You need to upload all 'folders' (except the 'data' folder) to your htdocs (.com/) folder.
Once uploaded you should see this:
PS: If not uploaded to your website's htdocs (.com/) folder (a webring system should have it's own domain!), you would then have to edit all 'urls' within the site with the correct url address. I am assumming that when you installed the Ringlink program, that the sitecount folder is also located here (if not then upload the testing.js to where ever you have placed your sitecount folder).
5)
a) Open the data folder provided.
b) Upload (in ASCII mode) the 'testing' folder found within to you Ringlink program's data folder.
c) Enter Master admin (admin.pl - System Admin link at bottom of the template's index page), and click the 'Reset stats' button (will update file permissions for the data directory).
d) You then log into ringadmin using ring id 'testing' and password 'testing', and click the 'Edit ring button (or edit from master admin). You would edit the ring's info with your info, and also change the ring's password. You would then edit the info for each of the five site's in the ring.
6) To change the colors and look of your system's site, you would edit the base.css file found in the 'style' folder' (with the color.html file you would edit the style attributes located within the head section). You can of course also edit the pages directly where needed...
7) Carefully review your system's new website, proof read everything, test all the links and the contact form, and update where needed.
8) Check the Ringlink website's 'System Design' page if you wish to add your system's logo to the pages generated by the Ringlink program.
