Am I the ONLY one who cares if my HTML is valid or not?  Topic: Webrings • Category: Tips & Ideas

Webrings Valid HTML code is important for accessibility and cross-browser compatibility. Why don't the Ringmasters supply valid HTML code for the Webring banners? Is it them, or is it the Ringlink software that is screwing up?

DOCUMENT_ROOT alert  Topic: Program • Category: Tips & Ideas
Posted by: Gunnar on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 - 07:00 PM
Program Ringlink 3.0 is recommended to be run under "taint mode", i.e. with the -T switch included at the first line of the *.pl files. For that reason, when setting $rlmain::sitecountpath, and possibly $rlmain::datapath, in rlconfig.pm, you need to specify full pathnames without using the $ENV{DOCUMENT_ROOT} variable.

A couple of comments in rlconfig.pm will be changed in next Ringlink release. In the meantime, please disregard the current suggestion to use $ENV{DOCUMENT_ROOT}.

Date order and statistics  Topic: Program • Category: Tips & Ideas
Posted by: Amdramwebring on Sunday, June 29, 2003 - 03:42 AM
Program Having just migrated from RobRing, I'm used to seeing sites sorted by date and seeing site statistics sorted by date joined. Is it possible, or in development, to do this with ringlink?

Within the ringadmin, it would be good if date joined was one of the fields of data available about each site.

Search Ring Option in HTML Code  Topic: Program • Category: Tips & Ideas
Posted by: revspalding on Saturday, January 18, 2003 - 11:44 AM
Program I have looked high and low for any information on how I can provide a search option for the casual browser, to search the ring from the Ring HTML Code. Is this only something that can be accomplished through the ringadmin page or am I just a numb noobie (yes!).
I am definitely a novice, but that's why I love the open source community! How else can an old dog learn new tricks?
