Hi Gunner,

Gunnar wrote,
The new stats feature may make some people say: "What, doesn't it
result in more ring traffic?"
... Yes it does add to traffic on your site, I've seen it in my page counters.

For instance, when I looked at the summary statistics for my own ring,
I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed. On an average, each
site refers 1.3 visitors per day to other ring sites, the list page or
the ring homepage, while each site receives 1.8 visitors per day from
the ring. At the same time I know that my webring is more successful
in this respect than other similar rings.
.... Do the math, with a ring size of 300 sites X 1.8= 540 people that surfed
some part of the ring a day, 3,700 hits a week and 16,200 per month ! My ring
has been over 30,000 hits a month.

So, what's the conclusion of that? Are webrings not interesting?
.... There are, especially for those people who are looking for what your ring
has to offer. I've recieved lots of emails telling me it is and thanking me
for my effort in operating my ring.

Are webrings important?
.... Yes, we connect sites of common interest and themes.

And, if so, why?
.... They allow anyone the opportunity, to link their site with other sites the
have or display a common theme and interest togather, in an effort for all to
learn and see anything relating their specific interests.

These are my observations, but I think we all see these letters of thanks, too.
